Moore offers Soul — Spirit weekend in Toronto

Thomas Moore comes to the Toronto area on the weekend of April 15-17 2011 to engage with people wanting to explore the depths of spirituality. Register online now for this Soul—Spirit Dialogues program at http://www.soul-spirit-dialogues.ca. Each participant receives a copy of Moore's book, The Soul's Religion. In his February 2011 newsletter, Moore writes:
"On April 15th I'll be in Toronto, joining Rev. Wayne Walder for a very special program called Soul-Spirit Dialogues. Wayne and I want to offer people an opportunity to deepen their spiritual experiences and, when applicable, their leadership roles. This intensive weekend will be held at the beautiful McMichael Gallery. Wayne and I have been planning this event for over a year. I was inspired to create it after spending a week with Unitarian Universalist Ministers in Ottawa. I felt that there is a need for the deepening of religion, theology and spirituality. I expect this to be an extraordinary opportunity. It will also involve online presentations and conversations before and after the event."

Living the Way of Beauty:
Teachings from the Renaissance

Sunday 3 April 2011 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
"Renaissance philosophers placed a new emphasis on the value of life: personal experiences with nature, art, and love could be ways of communing with the Divine here and now. By contemplating earthly beauty, an individual could touch the Anima Mundi, the World Soul, flowing in and through all, thereby deepening levels of awareness and insight. Since then, others have followed the way of this wisdom teaching."

The Breakthrough.com Blog shares "An interview with Thomas Moore", a recorded telephone interview about Moore's entry "Everyone Should Be In Therapy," that he posted with The Huffington Post in September 2010. Moore answers questions about the role of therapy, therapy within the medical model, the meaning of therapy, his favoured environments, additional resources to assist therapy and how technology may support therapy. This interview is approximately 53 minutes. Moore shares that a current writing project could be called "writing therapy" as he directly addresses the reader of his manuscript.

"Using his fertile imagination, drawing upon his own translations of the Gospels, [Thomas Moore] offers fresh interpretations to deepen and enliven anyone's spiritual life. Calling the texts "intelligent, challenging, and incredibly inspiring," Moore encourages us to take to heart the stories and distinctive imagery of the Gospels and the many insights to be found there about the central themes of the human adventure. He explores how Jesus gives us a rounded and ripe sense of the kingdom of God; challenges our long-accepted ideas about purity, wealth, and power; and gives us parables that turn things upside down. Sayings by and stories about Jesus model a path of love, empathy, sharing, self-possession, sensuality, and treating all people well."

Explore the soul's need for privacy, March 21

Re-Vision promotes Thomas Moore's talk, Artemis And Her Children: The Soul's Need For Privacy on Monday 21 March 2011 from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. Moore is a patron of Re-Vision.
"The stories that surround Artemis and her avatars Daphne, Atalanta, Acteon, Hippoloytos — show the psyche's need for privacy and its natural resistance to education and therapy. The Artemis soul is extremely sensitive to intrusion. This aggressive "resistance" has many implications for education and therapy. The stories offer solutions that involve re-imagining the work. They also address the problems of the Apollo fantasy in science and technology as well as education and therapy."
Fee: £20.00 (£15.00 for Re-Vision graduates and students)
Venue: Lumen, 88 Tavistock Place, London WC1H 9RS
Nearest stations: Kings Cross and Russell Square
