Thomas Moore to speak at McGill University

The Whole Person Care program at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec is hosting a seminar with Thomas Moore on Tuesday, 11 April 2006 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Moore will speak about The Spirit and the Soul of Medicine.
"The McGill programs are based on the premise that in situations in which treatment is unable to change the disease outcome, it may be possible to create a space in which healing can occur. Lessons about quality of life and individuation, learned in the arena of advanced illness, also have relevance earlier in the disease trajectory and for those who are physically well. While the existential/ spiritual domain is known to be an important determinant of quality of life, there has been little emphasis on integration of the issues in health care. The Program therefore seeks to integrate the physical aspects of personhood along with the psychosocial and existential/ spiritual ones, and to better understand how to respond to suffering experienced by the whole person."
For further information or reservations, telephone: 514-398-2298 or scroll to the bottom of the Seminars page to fill out an enquiry form for Eileen Lavery. Thomas Moore's session will be in the seminar room of the Gerald Bronfman Centre for Clinical Research in Oncology, 546 Pine Avenue West.
